Jesus Christ and the Millennium
Notice that in the following texts that the millennium begins with the first resurrection which is for the saints. We know that the first resurrection is for the saints because Verse 6 refers to them as blessed and holy. We know that this resurrection takes place at the beginning of the millennium because the resurrected ones live and reign with Christ during the thousand years.
Revelation 20:
4 “And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; andthey lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.”
----
6 “Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection:on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, andshall reign with him a thousand years.”
NOTE:
Notice that in the following texts that it is at the time that our Lord descends from Heaven that the first resurrection takes place. As we have already seen, the first resurrection (the saints) happens at the beginning of the millennium so Christ’s descent from Heaven (Christ’s return) marks the beginning of the millennium.
1 Thessalonians 4:
16 “For the Lord himself shall descend from heavenwith a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:”
17 “Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds,to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”
Revelation 20:
4 “And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them:and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.”
-----
12 “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened:and another book was opened, which is the book of life:and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.”
1 Corinthians 6:
2 “Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world?and if the world shall be judged by you,are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?”
3 “Know ye not that we shall judge angels?how much more things that pertain to this life?”
Daniel 7:
21 “I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;”
22 “Until the Ancient of days came, andjudgment was given to the saintsof the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.”
NOTE:
The responsibility of judgment is given to those who reign with Christ for the thousand years. (Revelation 20:4) God has determined who is saved or lost (pardoned or not pardoned), but the Saints will have a part in the judgment of each unpardoned sinner.
The Saints will judge the world and angels. (1 Corinthians 6:2, 3) Apparently the saints will also have a part in deciding the punishment Satan and his angels will receive.
What is clear is that the saints participate with Christ in the judgment that takes place during the thousand years. The saints are with Christ! How wonderful it will be to be with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
