A command with promise
Ex.19:12 Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land that the Lord is giving you.
Prov.23:22 Listen to your father, who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old.
Eph.6:1-3 Children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother"--which is the first commandment with a promise--"that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."
1Tim.5:4 If a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God.
Col.3:20 Children obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.
