Preparation For Prevailing Prayer
Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.[17] Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. [18] And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.(James 5:16-18 KJV)
He that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a
rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
”But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." (Hbr 11:6 KJV)
We must forgive those that have wronged us as we wish God to forgive us.
"And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. [13] And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. [14] For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: [15] But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. (Mat 6:12-15 KJV)
If others have anything against us, we should seek to make it right.
" Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; [24] Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. [25] Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison." (Mat 5:23-25 KJV)
There should be a hatred of sin. God hears prayer when the sinner is ready to exchange sin for righteousness.
"If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear [me]:"(Psalm 16:18 KJV)
Three must be an obedient mind. The transgressor of the law is
heard if he is willing to obey.
"He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer [shall be] abomination". (Pro 28:9 KJV)
Our requests must be presented in the name of Jesus.
"Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and [that] your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you." (John 15:16 KJV)
Pride and vanity should be put away.
"Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it". (Job 35:13 KJV)
The individual that one day asks God to help him overcome sin and the next day chooses sin, can not expect help.
"But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. [7] For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord." (Jam 1:6-7 KJV)
