God Has Given Us The Greatest Gift
We were created in God's image, and for that reason we have the capacity to procreate, to have children, and to love them. It seems natural for us to want to give good gifts to our children.
"If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?" Matthew 7:11
What do we deserve?
"And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great trespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and hast given us such deliverance as this;" Ezra 9:13
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23
"This is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son."
1 John 5:11
How many on earth need this Gift?
"But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe." Galatians 3:22.
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23.
How many may have this Gift from God?
"And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely." Revelation 22: 17.
"He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life." 1 John 5:12.
How do we receive Christ so that we can know that we "have the Son".
"Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?"
2 Corinthians 13:5
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life."
John 6:47
After we accept God's gift, then what happens:
"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." Galatians 2:20.
"Being born again, not of corruptible seed; but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever." 1 Peter 1:23.
Why did Jesus Christ have to die?
"Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil." Hebrews 2:14
When was this Gift of God planned?
"And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world." Revelation 13:8.
"And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:" Ephesians 3:9
What do we become as we accept God's Gift
"To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons." Galatians 4:5
"For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus." Galatians 3:26.
"And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together." Romans 8:17.
"Being born again, not of corruptible seed; but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever." 1 Peter 1:23
Let us share God's Gift. This Gift gets bigger as we give it away.
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." Matthew 28:19, 20
