How to Know GOD's Call

It seems clear to me that God had a specific plan for each of us before we were ever born. He is calling us toward that plan.

Isaiah 44:2 "Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen."

Isaiah 44:24 "Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;"

Isaiah 49:5 "And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength."

Jeremiah 1:5 "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations."

How earnestly should we seek our calling?
"Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall." 2 Peter 1:10.

How important is it that we persevere to the end?
"Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown." Revelation 3:11.

On what condition is the crown of life promised to us?
"Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto
death,
and I will give thee a crown of life."
Revelation 2:10.

How long ago did God and Christ determine that they would seek to save us?
"According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love." Ephesians 1:4.

Who are those that will thus be saved?
"According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love." Ephesians 1:4.

To what has God foreordained those who attain to this character?
"Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will." Ephesians 1:5.

According to what does God call us?
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28.

In fulfillment of whose plan have we been predestined?
"In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will." Ephesians 1:11.

Upon what condition is salvation offered to us?
"And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." Acts 16:31.

For how long must we maintain our faith in and connection with God in order to achieve this final salvation?
"But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved." Matthew 24:13. (See James 1:12; Revelation 2:10.)

Can our names be written right now in heaven?
"Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice,
because your names are written in heaven."
Luke 10:20.

Whose names only will be retained in those books?
"He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his
angels."
Revelation 3:5.

What scripture is sometimes cited as evidence that God is arbitrary in His
dealings with men?

"Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth." Romans 9:18.

But what other scripture explains those toward whom God "wills" to be
merciful, or otherwise?
"With the merciful thou wilt show thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt show thyself upright; with the pure thou wilt show thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt
show thyself froward." Psalms 18:25,26. (See also Isaiah 55:7.)

How many people does God desire to be saved?
"Who will have all men to be saved,
and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." 1 Timothy 2:4.

What is our part in the work of salvation?
"And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will
serve the LORD." Joshua 24:15.
"If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." John 7:17.
"And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." Acts 16:31.
"And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely." Revelation 22:17.

God wants to tell us what His plan is for us. He is calling us. Many have been called but few have chosen to heed the call.

Jesus says:

John 10:4 "And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice."

John 10:27 "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:"

God is talking to us. We just do not hear Him. Why can't we hear His voice?

Isaiah 59:2 "But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear."

Jeremiah 11:10 "They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers."

In this study, God tells us how to let Him remove sin so we can hear His voice.
